How to Modify or Edit Permission Profiles
This article explains how to view, edit, and manage permission profiles in Cerely, including an overview of the default permission roles and default access settings.
1. Click on your Profile Icon located in the top-right corner of your screen

2. Select Setup from the dropdown menu

3. In the Users & Permissions section, click on Permissions.
This will display a list of permission profiles, by default there are 5 permission profiles setup for use in Cerely as follows:
| Permission Profile | Description |
|---|---|
| Super Administrator | Full system access with unrestricted permissions. Can manage all settings, users, permissions, billing, and system configuration. Typically assigned to business owners or primary account holders. |
| Administrator | High-level access to manage users, clients, sites, rostering, and invoicing, but without access to certain critical system-level or security settings reserved for Super Administrators. |
| Operations | Designed for operational staff responsible for day-to-day management, including rostering, task management, site oversight, and workforce coordination. Limited access to financial and system configuration settings. |
| Standard | General user access for office or support staff. Can view and manage assigned records such as clients, sites, tasks, and rosters based on permissions, but cannot change system-wide settings. |
| Employee | Restricted access profile for personnel. Typically used for workers who need to view rosters, shifts, tasks, and submit timesheets, with no access to administrative or financial functions. |

4. Click on the permission profile that you would like to modify or edit

5. On the right-hand side, click the Edit button

6. You will now see a permissions matrix with tabs across the top:
- Basic
- Send Email
- Tools
- Admin Level
- Email & Templates

7. Within each tab, you can:
-
Check or uncheck boxes to allow or restrict access to specific modules (e.g. Tab, View, Create, Edit, Delete)

-
Expand each section to modify granular permissions by clicking the arrow beside each entity

8. Once you’ve made the necessary changes to the permissions, click the Save button

While the Super Administrator profile itself cannot be reassigned or downgraded, you can still review and update specific access toggles or use it as a base to clone new custom profiles.
Important Note:
Changes to this profile will apply to all users assigned to the permission profile. Be cautious when toggling features.
If you want to create a new permission profile similar to a permission profile (but with slight restrictions), cloning is recommended.
