How to Update Industry Award or EBA Pay Rates
Cerely allows you to update Industry Award or Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) pay rates at any time throughout the year. This includes annual Fair Work wage increases, mid year adjustments, or any other approved pay rate changes. The process is the same regardless of when the pay rates are being updated.
Important: Before updating any Industry Award or EBA rates, ensure there are no approved timesheets that will be affected by the new rates. Once a timesheet has been approved, the pay rates are locked for compliance purposes. Any approved timesheets must be unapproved before updating the Industry Award rates.
Step 1 – Open User Menu
Click on your name in the top-right corner of the screen.
From the dropdown menu, click Setup

Step 2 – Open Organisation Settings
Under Organisation Settings, click your Company Name

Step 3 – Open Payroll Setup
From the left-hand menu, click Payroll Setup

Step 4 – Select Industry Award or EBA
From the Payroll Setup screen, click the Industry Award or EBA you want to edit

Step 5 – Edit Industry Award
Note: A single Industry Award may contain multiple different Industry Award or EBA payrates for different roster cycles. Ensure you select the correct one you wish to edit.
On the right-hand side, click the Edit (pencil) icon
The Edit Industry Award window will open and all fields will become editable

Step 6 – Select Classification
Click the Classification field
Select the pay level you want to update (for example, Level 1)
The system will automatically display rates based on the selected Employment Type

Step 7 – Update Year Period
Click the Year Period field and set the date range that the rates apply to.
Examples:
- 1 July 2025 – 30 June 2026
- 1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027 at 00:00
Ensure the start date for the new Year Period is the day after the end date of the previous Year Period so all dates align correctly. These dates act as a visual guide for managers to know when these pay rates apply. Do not overlap end dates with new start dates.

Step 8 – Select Employment Type
Click the Employment Type field
This works together with the Classification field. Each Classification must be updated based on the selected Employment Type.
Select the appropriate type:
- Casual
- Full Time
- Part Time
Update all Classification levels for the first Employment Type before changing to the next Employment Type. Once all Classification levels have been updated for one Employment Type, select the next Employment Type and repeat the process for each Classification Level.

Step 9 – Update Classification Rates
Ensure the correct:
- Classification (e.g. Level 1)
- Employment Type (e.g. Casual)
are selected.
Update each rate field with the new values.
Follow this sequence:
- Complete all rates for Level 1
- Move to Level 2 and update all rates
- Continue through all classification levels
- Once complete, switch Employment Type (e.g. Casual → Full Time)
- Repeat from Level 1 again

Tip: You do not need to save after each Classification or Employment Type rate update. You can click Save or Save & Close once you have finished updating all rates. If you need to leave your computer, we recommend clicking Save first to make sure your changes are saved in case anything happens while you are away.

Step 10 – Set Effective From Date
Click the Effective From Date field and set when the new rates should take effect.

Step 11 – Save Changes
Once all classifications and employment types have been updated, click Save & Close.
Rates will automatically apply across:
- Employee profiles
- Timesheets
- Payroll
Based on the Effective From Date.

Important Compliance Note
Before saving updates:
- Ensure no approved timesheets exist for the affected period
- Approved timesheets will lock historical rates for compliance
- Any approved timesheets must be unapproved before changes are made
This ensures payroll accuracy and compliance across all historical and future pay runs.
